Support
Need a hand? Email support@lanrave.com and say which phone and Mac you're using.
What you need
- A Mac running macOS 15 or later, with the LANRave host app.
- Phones: iPhone with iOS 17 or later, or Android 10 or later.
- One network. The Mac and every phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network. The Mac can also be plugged in with Ethernet to that same router, which is the most reliable setup.
Installing on Android
- On your phone, open lanrave.com and tap Download the APK.
- Open the downloaded file. If Android says your browser isn't allowed to install apps, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, and go back.
- Tap Install, then Open.
To update, download and install the new APK the same way. Your settings are kept.
Common problems
My phone doesn't see the rave
Check that the phone is on the same Wi-Fi as the Mac (not mobile data, and not a guest network). On iPhone, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and make sure LANRave is turned on. Some routers keep devices apart ("client isolation" or "AP isolation"); if that's on, turn it off.
The Mac host plays but guests hear silence
The Mac needs permission to capture system audio. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording and make sure LANRave is allowed, then restart the rave. VPN apps and network filters on the Mac can also block guests. If you use one, try allowing LANRave on the local network or pausing the filter.
The music stopped when I took an AirPod out
That's expected. Taking AirPods out leaves the rave, like pausing would. Put them back in or tap Join, and you'll be back in sync within a few seconds.
The sound drops out for a while, then comes back
This is usually Wi-Fi: walking between rooms, or the router switching your phone between its 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. LANRave reconnects by itself. For the steadiest rave, plug the Mac into the router with Ethernet and keep guests near the router.
My Bluetooth headphones sound slightly behind everyone else
Every headphone model adds its own delay. In the phone app, run headphone calibration once for your headphones and LANRave will make up for it from then on.
There's a countdown before the music starts
That's the rave's buffer. The host keeps a few seconds of music in hand so that a Wi-Fi hiccup doesn't interrupt anyone. When the countdown ends, you're in sync.
